TANAC/TANAGRO and WWF-Brazil meet for the 2nd workshop of ecosystem services.

25 of May of 2017

Together with the Management Committee of the Camaquã Hydrographic Basin (RS), WWF-Brazil and TANAC/TANAGRO organized the 2nd workshop of the project “Management, Conservation and Restoration of the Atlantic Forest” last Wednesday (17).

The workshop took place in Camaquã (RS) and counted with more than 40 participants, between government representatives, companies, universities and rural producers from the region. The workshop was given to present the results of the 1st workshop performed in Cristal (RS) and the construction of the participative map of the priority areas for conservation and restoration of the five districts of the project: Amaral Ferrador, Canguçu, Cristal, Camaquã and Encruzilhada do Sul, present in the Camaquã Basin(RS).

Progress was also made in the project planning phase such as:

• Socioeconomic Diagnosis of the region;
• Participatory mapping of the priority areas for conservation;
• Survey of more than 67 Territorial Initiatives of different players in the territory;
• Identification of the Priority Ecosystem Services: joint analysis with the company to identify the tendencies, risks and opportunities;
• Identification of Good Agricultural Practices.

In the second part of the workshop, the regional projects and programs were drawn up with the regional players to build the implementation phase centered in three great axes: Forest Restoration, Environmental Education and Good Agricultural Practices. We have also identified available resources and necessary demands to execute these projects.

From the 2nd half, partnership between WWF-Brazil and TANAC/TANAGRO should begin the implementation of the pilot projects aligned to the process of participative construction of the two workshops and actions of the Camaquã Basin Committee.
