TANAC S.A. receives AGEFLOR Forest Merit Award

20 of May of 2015

On Wednesday evening, May 13, the Association of Southern Forest Companies (AGEFLOR) held in Nova Prata/RS, the Forest Merit Award. This was the 7th edition of the award instituted in 1984. For the first time, it took place in Nova Prata, integrated to the calendar of the 5th Forest Fair and Forest Congress of RS.

The AGEFLOR Forest Merit Award is defined from the vote of its associates and recognizes a company of the forest sector, an entity or institution and citizens which collaborated or collaborate with the sector in the public and private sphere. At the event there are other awards planned: industries or distributors of machinery and equipment are running for the Forest Fair Award, still existing distinctions to rural producers and honored by the Forest Congress.

In 2015 the elected to receive the award are the company TANAC, the institution SENAR-RS (National Rural Training Service),  the personalities of the public are Ana Pelini (State Secretary for the Environment and Sustainable Development) and of the private area Walter Lidio Nunes (Celulose Riograndense).

TANAC was the chosen one through vote of the associates for two reasons. It announced at the end of 2014 that it will invest R$ 150 million in a wood pellet industry, in the industrial district of Rio Grande. The new unit will begin to operate in February 2016, with a production of 350 thousand tons/year of pellets. The wood pellet Project of TANAC is the greatest of Latin America and will be the first installed in Rio Grande do Sul, should pave the way for the State to become a major exporter of the product to the European Union.

Secondly, the choice of TANAC was due to the innovation in RESEARCH in the Acacia genetic area, fact which will bring relevant benefits to Acaciculture in terms of production/productivity per hectare year.
