WWF-Brazil and TANAC S.A. /Tanagro joined in a cooperation aimed at conserving biodiversity and promoting sustainable use of natural resources of the Atlantic Rainforest, through the Project “Forest management, conservation and restoration in the Atlantic Rainforest biome”.

Forest plantations well managed in appropriate sites can help conserve biodiversity and meet human needs, contributing for sustainable economic growth and the local sustainable means, having positive environmental and social impacts. WWF believes that forest plantations must contribute positively for the welfare of local communities, and not substitute natural ecosystems, such as tropical forests.

In this sense, WWF-Brazil employs efforts so that the Forest coverage and environmental services which are related may expand through mosaics of new plantations, natural forest restoration and of restoration areas.

The project developed by the two organizations will have three main action areas will have three main action areas: the first one, aimed at Conservation and Restoration of the Atlantic Rainforest; the second focused on Promoting good practices and concept of New Generations of Forest Plantations (NGP); and, lastly, the action that aims to deepen market change and new sustainable forest businesses.
