A joint effort to reach
common goals involved â?? and still involves â?? all the people of TANAC team.
The certifications ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FSC and NSF are the result of a group
work, of a team work. Since 1996, the Quality Management System of TANAC is
certified in conformity with the NBR ISO 9001 Standards, confirming its
commitment with the quality of its products and services.
In the year 2000, TANAC certified its Environmental Management System
according to the NBR ISO 14001 Standards, reafirming its commitment with the
environment. Tanfloc SG, TANAC flocullent/coagulant agent for water treatment is
certified by the american organization NSF - National Sanitation Fundation -
International, recognized worldwide, which certifies products for human
consumption, such as food and water. In the beginning of 2004, the Chain of
Custody of the Woodchip Unit and TANAGRO Forest Management and 2008 the Chain
of Custody of the Tanin Unit, were certified, by the FSC â?? Forest
Stewardship Council, confirming that the forestal activities are economically

TANAC POLICY
FOR THE USE OF RAW MATERIAL ORIGINATED FROM FORESTS
We from
Tanac S.A., Mimosa Vegetable Extract Industry in Montenegro and of Wood Chips in
Rio Grande, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, are compromised with the planning
and execution of our activities using forestal raw material, adopting the
following criteria:
. acquire forestal raw material from FSC - Forest
Stewardship Council certified sources.
. acquire forestal raw material
from controled sources not certified attending the standards defined by FSC,
which guarantee that during the handling of these sources , the following
principles are respected:
. the preservation of the traditional rights
of indigenous people and civil rights; . not proceeding of woods or forests
with a high conservation value;
. not being originated from genetically
modified materials;
. not having been cut down illegally;
. not
being derived from converted native forests .
DIn this way, we believe
that our clients can fully trust in our products, as we follow environmentally
adequate and socially correct policies.
PRODUCERS
EVALUATION
For the acquisition of raw-material, TANAC
fulfills in the production site, together with the producer, an evaluation of
the risk level, as to social-environmental aspects, according to the foreseen in
the requirements established for the Chain of Custody - FSC – Forest Management
International Council, in the FSC-STD-40-005 standard version 2.1.
The
evaluation of the categories of the risk level was based on specific data for
Brazil and for the acaciculture regions in the south of Brazil, including the
survey in organs and in federal government official data, such as: Labor and
Employment Ministry, CTNBio – National Technical Committee of Bio-security,
FUNAI – Indian National Foundation, Palmares Cultural Foundation of the Culture
Ministry and Labor International Organization.
The auditors of the year
of 2009 occurred at producers which supplied bark and/or wood in the period of
September 2008 to August 2009. In these evaluations no case of bark or wood
originated from controversial sources was detected.
The efficiency of
this procedure is constantly being followed, at any moment alterations and
adaptations of evaluation methodology can occur, seeking in this way, to find
improvement in this process.
